After completing a Master’s (DEA) in Corporate and Economic Law (Paris I), Fabrice Van Cauwelaert wrote his doctoral thesis on “The Freedom of Operators on the Market - a Competition Law Study.”
He joined the Commercial and Competition Law Department in January 2018, and he advises on transactional and contentious matters in the areas of commercial law and policy, competition law (anticompetitive and restrictive practices, merger controls and state aid) and regulatory law (business regulation, controls, administrative sanctions, etc.).
Fabrice is recognised for his experience in all matters related to the application of competition rules to the public sector and therefore works with the Public Business Law Department to assist the contracting authorities with assessing whether their planned actions comply with competition rules.
He lectures on public competition law as part of the Master’s II course on Contracts and Competition at the Université de Versailles-Saint Quentin en Yvelines, and runs an economic criminal law workshop at the Sciences Po Law School in Paris.
